Flying in Lanzarote

We, the local Freeflying Community want to make sure that everyone stays safe and has a fantastic time in the air.

There are a couple of important rules that need to be considered for flying safely in windy conditions close to seacliffs and especially together with hang gliders. Please remember, Lanzarote has no paramedics nor a rescue helicopter. Every year to many terrible accidents happen out of ignorance that could have easily been avoided. Please make sure you do not cause the next one!

We compiled all information about the starting places, the restrictions and also the flying rules below.

Please respect the following rules:

- Start and land only in the designated areas.

- Come hooked in and ready to launch quickly! Sort your lines and prepare everything on the beach or on the side!

- only Reverselaunching !!!

- Beware of the strong windgradient, especially when there are clouds on top of the cliff. Every year pilots get blown into the Lee causing serious accidents.

- Tandempilots have priority!!!

- Respect Hanggliding launch and landing sites. Please do not kite in front of approaching Deltas.

- Please respect Lanzarote, stay on the dirtroads, do not land or kite in the black farming fields!
